Period 3 : Listening & Speaking
I. The analysis of teaching material
The topic of this unit is about talking learning methods and learning habits.And the function is to use "The special interrogative sentences introduced by how" and the answers to communicate. Students need to learn how to use "how" questions to talk about learning methods and learning habits. What they will learn in this lesson is pretty practical. It’s a good to learn English by doing. This is the third lesson of Unit 1, so the main task of Period 3 for students is to improve the skills of listening and speaking.
II. The analysis of learning condition
Most students from the rural school have an average English level, and they are also not good at listening and speaking. So they will be encouraged to practice more in listening and speaking. The students of Grade 9 won’t be very strange for the topic of this unit. According to the characteristics of the 9th grade students, we all know that their cognition is still based on the specific substance, so this lesson will be closed to the real life and they have learned before. Thus, students will be more easily to learn the new knowledge.
III. Teaching objectives
According to the curriculum standard of English, the teacher sets the following objectives.
A. Knowledge objectives:
1. Through the game and pair work, 80% of students can pronounce and recognize those new words& phrases according to pictures. And at least 60% of students can master how to use the new words& phrases.
New words&phrases:pronounce,increase,partner,speed,make mistakes in,reading speed,find…difficult to do …
2.More than half of students can use the sentences’ structure to make their own dialogues. And some lower-level students can modify the sentences by changing the key words.

B. Ability objectives:
After learning of new phrases and sentences and practicing the listening and speaking in pairs:
1. Students can find out the key words while listening.
2. 70% of students will be able to make short dialogues about asking for permission politely.
C. Moral objectives:
After learning,it can cultivate students' concept of loving labor and helping others.

【Purpose】This step is based on the Audio-lingual Method Communicative Method and Task-based Teaching Method, By making conversation in pairs can make their impression deeper.And on the process of listening,by listening to the key information of the material, students will learn how to grasp key words while listening, so that students can put out the target language, it can further practice the speaking skills and learn how to use new words and new sentences.
